DEBORAH SAMUEL BIOGRAPHY

Deborah Samuel was born in Vancouver, Canada - the oldest child in a family with six siblings. The family moved east to Toronto and then Ireland before she was fourteen.

Deborah studied art at Limerick College of Art and Design, and returned to Canada to study photography at Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario.

Deborah's distinctive style was quickly embraced in fashion and entertainment photographs and her intuitive and intense portraits of celebrities, musicians and writers like, Leonard Cohen, Margaret Atwood, Rush and Queen Noor

Professional assignments called her to New York, London and Los Angeles. Deborah Samuel’s work has graced magazines such as GQ, Rolling Stone, Esquire, Spin and Entertainment Weekly, in addition to directing music videos for musicians and bands for numerous record companies.

She turned her focus to portrait studies of animals -- horses, dogs and nature, like no one else. The outgrowth are four volumes: Dog, Pup, The Extraordinary Beauty of Birds and 'Elementals' a series of nature itself.

Deborah Samuel has lectured and led photography workshops throughout North America.

Deborah currently lives in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada, where she keeps a studio, her dog Mac and Crow, a Spanish Mustang.
